Your Coffee Table

Exactly the way you want it

"Why they are called coffee tables anyway? They are used for high tea, entertaining guest in the "good room", a drawing and play table for little people. In the TV room or Media Room (depending on the size of your screen) they are used for snacks and drinks on game or movie nights or a place to leave you favourite magazines.

So with all this in mind why not make it work well by deciding how low or high or long and how wide you want it! At Table and Desk- the designer’s hat is on your head!

“I did not think I would ever find a long coffee table until I found your website. We wanted a coffee table that was as long as the couch in our media room for those odd TV dinners we have. It was simple to order and we had it in a week or so. Great work”
Louise - Sydney
“I laughed when I read your website — that is exactly how our old coffee table was being used but it was way too small. Now everyone is catered for! We love how strong the table is and I know it will handle the test of our little people”
Jo – Forrest Lake

Coffee Table design advice

Your coffee table is a focal point of your living room and has many functions. It's a great place to kick your feet up (even though we know we shouldn’t), and the home of magazines, drinks and remote controls. Getting the size right means you will have a stylish functional piece of furniture that will enhance the look and feel of your living room.

Start by measuring from the floor to the top of the sofa cushion then add 150 mm. As a general rule, a good coffee table is one that is level with your knees when sitting.

A good size for the top of the coffee table is between one third and one half the length of your sofa. Also, remember to measure the distance between the sofa and the space where the coffee table will. You'll want to leave around half a metre around the table so people can move freely. This is especially important for modular lounge suites.
